Wah Wah … as always,

“Balance is Key”

Before we embark on this enlightening journey, let's start with a list of associations for our soon-to-be BFF, the Manipura Chakra:

Sanskrit name: Manipura Chakra

Color: Yellow

Location: Solar Plexus

Element: Fire

Seed Mantra: Ram

Gland: Pancreas

Psychological Function: Inner Power, Confidence, Truth, Integrity

Now that we've got the basics down, let's dive into the wondrous world of the Solar Plexus Energy Center and discover how to keep our cosmic fire crackling:

About the Manipura Chakra

Inner Power and Self-Confidence arise from the energy of our Manipura.

This energy is super important for motivation, self discipline and productivity. This is where we are driven with a sense of purpose and move towards it with bright positive energy. You need your Manipura to achieve goals!

Your manipura gives you a strong sense of self - where you stand in truth and integrity - authentically for who you are and what you believe in!

This is where you naturally honor yourself, others and the planet when making decisions and moving forward courageously.

The element of fire represents the bright energy of the sun.

This energy ignites a bright light in our consciousness that motivates us to strive towards success. The fire energy of the Manipura is also very important in metabolism, strengthening the digestive system and promoting efficient absorption of nutrients. So a balanced manipura is key to good health and digestion.

“Manipura” comes from the sanskrit words “mani” meaning gem and “pura” meaning city. So Manipura is often translated as the “city of jewels”.

Metaphorically, you can think of this as your personal place (your inner city) of your precious jewels of power and well being.

The Manipura vibrates to the color yellow, which brings brightness and balance of energy. This color symbolizes our connection with energy, fire and the sun.

How to Balance and Unlock the Power of your Manipura

To keep your Manipura Chakra happy, balanced, and firing on all cylinders, here are a few tips and tricks to awaken its cosmic potential:

Kapalabhati Pranayama … Breath of Fire

Think of this like you’re stoking the fire (manipura) with air (your breath).

So as you stoke you strengthen the flame. Additionally, physiologically the manipura is connected with the diaphragm … and breath of fire strengthens the diaphragm.

Fire Up Your Yoga Practice: Engage in yoga poses that focus on core strength and activation. There are also specific poses that help to activate the manipura, but one pose alone doesn’t always do it. Practicing a sequence of poses for the manipura is much more effective …

like doing the Manipura Yoga Practices on Elev8 Workouts.

The following are key poses for activating the Manipura Chakra:

Shalabhasana (airplane)

Bhujangasana (cobra pose)

Ardha Matsyendrasana (Seated twist)

Plank (on elbows & hands)

Purvottanasana (Reverse Plank Pose)

Vasisthasana (Side Plank)

Parivrtta Alanasana (High Lunge Twist with prayer mudra)

Parivrtta Trikonasana (revolved triangle pose).

Vrksasana (Tree)

Chanting Ram

Embrace the Power of Mantras. The seed mantra of the Solar Plexus is Ram (pronounced as "rahm") and can stimulate and balance the Manipura Chakra. Close your eyes, feel the vibration in your solar plexus, and let the mantra work its energetic magic. By chanting Ram over and over again you ignite the power of the manipura. Start with 3 minutes and increase to 7, then 11 as you can.

The Color Yellow and Visualization

Visualize a flame or the burning sun in your solar plexus, as you connect into this area of your body. You can do this simultaneously with all the other practices on this page to increase the effectiveness. Additionally, bask in the Golden Glow, by surrounding yourself with the color yellow, whether it's wearing sunny clothing, adorning your space with vibrant yellow decor, or placing a vase of sunflowers on your desk.

Connect with your Core Strength

Your Manipura relates to your physical body and strong core. The energy of the Manipura itself is powerful and strong. Doing Core work helps your physical body become powerful and strong and helps you feel the Manipura energy. Work your abs often to gain a stronger connection with your Manipura.

Spark Up Your Crystal Collection: Crystals like citrine, tiger's eye, and yellow calcite are believed to resonate with the Manipura Chakra.

Keep them close, meditate with them, or create a crystal grid to amplify their energy and support the balance of your cosmic furnace.

Light the fire of your manipura with dancing.

The more passion and power you put into it, the more you ignite the light of your manipura. Imagine that fire at your solar plexus as you allow the dance to come from this powerful place.

Signs and Symptoms of an Imbalanced Manipura Chakra

Just like a sputtering campfire, an imbalanced Manipura Chakra may exhibit a few telltale signs. Here are some symptoms to watch out for:

Ego Overload

When the Manipura Chakra is out of whack, the ego tends to take center stage. You might find yourself becoming overly competitive, arrogant, or constantly seeking validation from others. Remember, confidence is key, but there's no need to hog the cosmic spotlight!

Lack of Confidence and Low Self-Esteem

On the flip side, an imbalanced Manipura Chakra can leave you feeling unsure of yourself, doubting your abilities, and drowning in a sea of self-doubt. It's time to break free from the shackles of insecurity and step into your power.

Digestive Drama

As the Manipura Chakra resides in the solar plexus/stomach region, digestive issues can be a sign of imbalance. From tummy troubles to indigestion, pay attention to how your gut is feeling. Perhaps it's time to nourish your body with a healthy dose of self-love and a balanced diet.

Fire vs. Burnout

When the Manipura Chakra is overly active, you may feel a constant need to be in control, leading to workaholic tendencies and burnout. Remember, even cosmic superheroes need downtime. Find a balance between igniting your passions and nurturing your soul.
